Over the next 10 years, more than £1.5 billion is being invested in the Watford area to improve the transport infrastructure, build new homes and improve and increase the leisure facilities.
The old Charter Place Shopping centre at the end of INTU is currently undergoing redevelopment, with an investment of £150 million, to include more shops, restaurants, a 9 screen IMAX cinema and space for for events to be held.
The beautiful Cassiobury Park, which has 190 acres of green space and woodland, riverside walks, play areas, a cafe and a model railway has been granted a £6.6million lottery fund, which will be used to improve the changing facilities of the splash pools, add a new kiosk and café, a new hub building, together with the historic bandstand which has already been restored.
Watford Health Campus will undertake a £350million transformation of 65 acres of unused land around the hospital to create 750 new homes, retail and leisure facilities and public green spaces.
Between 2016 and 2020, the Watford Metropolitan extension should see this line extended to Watford Junction with the addition of 2 new stations at Cassiobridge and Vicarage Road football stadium.
Watford has fantastic links for commuters, both into and away from London. Watford Junction station has a direct train service reaching London in less than 20 minutes which is great for buyers who can get more for their money, than in nearby hotspots like North London. It also has a central position near to both the M1 and M25 and the town has started work on a major new infrastructure providing better access to areas previously poorly served, including Thomas Sawyer Way, which opened in November 2016, giving direct access to Watford Hospital.
